Much Loved Gay Porn Star Andy Dill Dies!
It’s with great shock and sadness that I announce the passing of one of my aquaintences and one of the most popular guys in the gay porn industry — Andy Dill.
Andy died in hospital yesterday, December 6th, in San Francisco, of meningitis.
I was just talking about him in this blog the other day wasn’t I? Yeah I was talking about his lust for redheads.
Yesterday I was wondering what exactly he was up to and was going to send an email about upcoming Bear Films projects….
The photo of Andy in this post was one he sent me a year or two ago to accompany one of the articles he had given me permission to republish on my gay news bits blog. Actually come to think of it that was the second or third article of Andy’s I had republished. I’ll see if I can find the article again as it was good and it’s burried in the huge archives over there. But I think I still have a copy of the text file he sent me.
I don’t know what else to say right now.

7 Tips For Aspiring Gay Porn Producers
Yesterday I posted my 7 Tips For Aspiring Gay Porn Models. So, naturally I’ve got to post…
7 Tips For Aspiring Gay Porn Producers
1. Plan your shoot before hand; never wing it. Create outlines, shooting scripts, storyboards and/or anything else that will help you keep the production or shoot on track.
It will depend on the subject matter and the complexity of the project of course, but the more prepared you are before you shoot the better things will go on set or location.
2. Learn how to properly use all the equipment that you’ll be using. If you have a crew; they have to know exactly how to use the equipment.
3. Learn how to frame and compose a picture. Better composition produces better, more professional shots or videos that are more vibrant and full. Things like lighting equipment should never be seen on screen. On a related note, learn how to keep the camera steady.
4. Learn how to use both natural and artificial light to light your scenes properly whether you’re on set or location. Learning and applying a few simple tricks of the trade, you can avoid harsh glares, dark shadows that obscure action and correct poor color balance.
5. Learn how to properly mic a scene so that you can avoid background noise and properly capture any sounds and dialogue that you do want.
6. Make sure that all of your models/cast and crew observe simple set etiquette. This would include absolute silence when the cameras are rolling. We shouldn’t be hearing any cell phones or people making comments in the background.
7. Direct your models, don’t just let them do whatever they want. It’s not their video or photo shoot; it yours and you have to be satisfied with the end results.
Where can you find out about these subjects? Try reading a book or two; go to amazon.com there’s been thousands of books written on these subjects and skills.
You can also see if your local community college has any mini video production and photography courses.
Experiment and shoot constantly. Apply these tips and profit from them.
7 Tips For Aspiring Gay Porn Models
I’ve been to a hell of alot of gay porn sites over the years and watched alot of videos both online and on DVDs and I got to tell you that if your average gay porn model adopted the following tips they’d get alot more work and elevate themselves from average to great gay porn models.
I should also note that alot of gay porn producers should be applying these tips to their models because their products are wanting.
So with that in mind…
Here’s 7 Tips For Aspiring Gay Porn Models:
1. Look enthusiastic! Unless you’re supposed to look otherwise of course. Enthusiastic models who love what they’re doing and look like they’re having a blast helps feed our fantasies about you and makes us hard.
2. Avoid looking directly into the camera lens. Pretend the camera isn’t there; you don’t need to know where the camera is. And for heavens sake, please don’t look at the camera and mouth or look like you’re asking for direction or asking when you can stop fucking.
3. Arrive on set refreshed, on time and ready to work. Porn modeling is a job and you need to be rested and not looking like you just rushed across town to get to your shoot on time. And speaking of time; time is money — you can bet your paycheck that a producer is going to be pretty pissed if he’s always waiting on you.
4. Speaking of being ready for work…Arrive on set sober. Drunk and stoned models don’t look sexy and they don’t perform properly. Naturally if you’re in a drunk frat boy orgy type video then this is probably not going to apply.
5. Practice proper basic hygiene. Make sure you’ve shit, showered, shaved and douched. Dirty butts aren’t a turn on. OK there are some people who get off on that, but unless you’re doing a shoot for one of those types of sites or videos…Please clean your butt and the rest of your body too.
6. Take care of your body. Exercise, eat right, get fresh air, get a good nights sleep, keep your skin clean and healthy. We want to look at and watch good looking guys who make us sit up and take notice, and who don’t look like they’re going to fall over and croak or fall asleep.
7. Make sure that you have had a recent STD check up and AIDS/HIV check up. And don’t forget to bring the records along with you to the shoot proving that you’re STD free and HIV negative.
Apply these tips and profit from them.
