The Future of Gay Porn in 2009

Gay Porn Divination 2008 has come and gone and now we’re finally into 2009. I feel kind of relieved actually; 2008 was starting to really drag.

So, what’s in store for us in 2009?

Well, as for myself, I’ve been cutting down my porn activities because I’m up to my ears in a couple of offline projects. Can’t get into them right now but I’ll be posting about them when the time comes.

In the online and offline porn world, things will continue to tick along. The big studios will continue to pump out the hits and misses. New players will try and break into the industry; especially since there will be people who’ve been displaced from other industries lately. Most of them will fade away pretty quickly when they realize that it takes work, time and a bit of money to keep things ticking along, even in the porn biz.

What I really want to bring to your attention in this post though is the further erosion of your personal freedom to watch and read what you want to.

I’ve mentioned porn seizures at the border last year, and that will continue to be a concern.

2257 still continues to rear its ugly head. One of the latest headlines on this subject: Analysis: Justice Department Displays Schizophrenia With New 2257 Regs. The summary: Adult producers will be held to strict compliance while Hollywood gets an EZ-Pass.

Italian president and media baron Silvio Berlusconi plans to use G8 presidency to ‘regulate the internet’. What he means by that is still unclear. Being a media baron though, he stands to put himself in a nice win, win position.

Over in the UK, the Culture Secretary calls for Internet censorship. One of the things he’s plugging is a film style censorship on internet sites.

In Australia, there’s an uproar over the Australian government’s plan to block Web sites. It’s being dubbed ‘The Great Firewall of Australia’ or something like that.

Taking it’s cue from China probably or maybe Australia, Britain, or Italy…Vietnam tightens rules on blogs

So, there will be plenty of porn (there always is somehow/someway) if you’re allowed access to it. It would also appear that this is the year that government and uber big business puts the screws down further so that they can decide who gets to be the content/publishing distributors of porn.
